In the challenging times of the global Covid-19 pandemic we have been carefully estimating infection dynamics, healthcare advise and regulations in Russia and have decided to go ahead with an in-person event in October in Moscow. Please follow the latest updates on the website in case of any changes. However, due to the uncertainties with international travel restrictions and in order to make our conference as inclusive as possible, we also introduce an Online day (30 October) available for participants world-wide. For participants who are willing to contribute to one of the earlier conference sessions but will not be able to attend an in-person event, we also introduce an Opinion paper format. Below are details and requirements for each of the contribution options to the conference, in-person and online respectively:

1.    Oral presentation (in-person). 
Presenting authors need to submit a short abstract (100 words approximately) to one of the conference sessions by the 15 July 2020. The abstract submission form can be found on the website:
If successful, authors will receive a confirmation letter and invitation to submit extended summary of the talk (2-3 pages), should the author want for it to be included in the publication of Proceedings of the conference (this is a non-mandatory stage).  The Proceedings will be issued an ISBN number and then uploaded to the RSCI Russian Science Citation Index and will be available at the National Research e-Library ( submit an extended summary please send it to the e-mail address with the letter subject "Extended summary. Name of the speaker. Title of the report".

2.    Opinion paper (online only with potential participation in the online round-table discussion).
Participants who cannot attend in-person meetings or do not wish to deliver an oral presentation, are welcome to submit an opinion paper (2-3 pages) in response to one of the topics of the conference sessions. We particularly welcome contributions to the special session on the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development with the main focus question “What perspectives and research opportunities can you identify under the framework of the Decade?”. To submit an opinion paper please send it to the e-mail address with the letter subject «Opinion paper. Name of the speaker. Title of the paper" by 1 September 2020. Additional break-out groups might be organised to discuss the opinion papers, authors will be notified and invited in such event.


3.    Poster presentation (in-person).

To present a poster during the in-person conference events please read the poster requirements below and submit poster description (100 words approximately) by 15 July. If you wish to present a poster but cannot attend an in-person conference please get in touch with the organisers at

Submission of short paper abstacts is closed

The paper should include:


First line: full title of the talk / paper.

Second line: first and last names of the author and co-authors with presenting author underlined.
Below the list of co-authors: affiliations of each co-author with indication of the city and country.


Please submit the files in PDF format.
Please consider total volume of the text (including references and figures) as 4 pages (A4).

Presentation extended summaries and opinion papers will be included in the Conference Proceedings and published on the conference website. By submitting the extended summary or opinion paper you confirm your agreement to the publication of this files on the event website

Working languages of the conference are Russian and English. Oral presentations within scientific sessions can take up to 20 minutes. Digital presentations must be prepared in the .PPT (. PPTX) or .PDF formats.

Poster need to be printed on a single page of A1 size (594 x 841mm, portrait or landscape orientation) or A0 (841 x 1189 mm, portrait orientation only).
Each poster must include a title, names and affiliations of authors and contact details of presenting author.
